Description

If volunteering out in the field is not your thing, have you considered writing as a form of stewardship and advocacy? Join us at our office at the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon to share snacks and conversation next Wednesday night, July 6th, from 6:30PM-8PM! This is your opportunity to learn more about how to write short essays, public comments, and article contributions that can also pave the way for conservation! There are many forms of advocacy and stewardship that we can add to our toolbelts to be an ally for the Wasatch and our watershed - one of those forms is sharing your narrative and concerns with council people, legislation, organizations, and news entities via writing! We wanted to host this workshop to share information about what it means to write a letter to the editor, what makes a strong public comment, how you can write an op-ed, and create a space for you to figure out the best way to share your concerns about various issues the Wasatch is currently facing - proposed gondolas, tainted water and airsheds, mining projects that would degrade wildlife habitat, and the list goes on. We ask you to bring a device you feel most comfortable writing with and we will also provide extra computers to any of those who may not bring one. Come join us and work together to protect the Wasatch!
