The West Chicago City Museum, People Made Visible and the Mexican Cultural Center DuPage are hosting an alebrije workshop at Gallery 200. The MCC have brought the exhibit Alebrijes: Creatures of a Dream World project to Cantigny Park this summer. Six artists created 48 alebrijes, mythical creature sculptures, bringing this unique Mexican art to DuPage County. Through a partnership, we will be hosting a workshop with alebrije artist Roberto Martinez Tecillos on Sunday, July 3rd from 1:00-2:30pm at Gallery 200, 103 W Washington Street, West Chicago. Join us to learn how these paper-mache pieces are built and the cultural heritage behind these amazing creatures.
