Description

SUMMERTIME SANTA will be our third "Tunes & Shrooms" community gathering at Winding Brook Farms - mushrooms & more. Tamara Kist, the Artistic Director of Tesser Act Theater Ensemble, says "Whether covering a familiar tune or sharing his original blend of rock and roll, Glen pours his heart and soul into every piece. His talent and showmanship make for a great evening out, and the CD with his original work is definitely worth a listen!" Glen Murschel is a Chicago, IL native musician and now lives locally in Monroe, NC. He is multi-talented, performing on Acoustic/Electric Guitars, Bass, Keyboards, Percussion, and Harmonica. His main forte is Solo Acoustic 12-String shows playing and singing a variety of original and cover music that spans generations! Truly a treat for your ears and spirit! Part of the proceeds from this gathering will be donated to Union County Christmas Bureau and everyone is invited to bring a new, unwrapped child's toy for TOYS FOR TOTS. Extra Information for your visit - This will be an old-fashioned porch concert under the shade of our large oak tree that graces the property! We have changed the times for the gatherings to dusk, 7:30 - 8:30 pm, in order to avoid the heat of the day. You can arrive at the farm as early as 6:30 in the evening. There will be various seating areas available around the venue or if you prefer bring a blanket and your own basket of treats to enjoy. Hold harmless waivers will need to be signed by all guests who have not visited the farm before. Areas for parking will be designated with orange cones. Keep in mind that this is an outdoor event so water, bug spray, and sure-footed walking attire are a must. If you want to wear a mask, feel free, as there will not be any judgment here of your choices. In case of rain, this event will be re-scheduled for a later date. Life happens, however, we will not be able to offer ticket refunds. Your ticket will be applied to one of our other community gatherings. The Union County Christmas Bureau has a great history of helping families in our community. In 1979, the Jaycee Goodfellows, the Salvation Army, and the Department of Social Services came together to try to help meet the needs of families during the Christmas season. That first year, approximately 300 families were provided with toys and food for their gifts. The Union County Christmas Bureau was organized in 1983 to help meet the needs of low-income families in our communities. The Christmas Bureau became a collaborative effort of many agencies within Union County including churches, civic groups, schools, and businesses. The Christmas Bureau was also formed as a clearinghouse to help prevent duplication of assistance among families. Currently, the Union County Christmas Bureau assists over 2,000 families each year by providing Christmas gifts, warm clothing, and food for Christmas dinner and food during the children's time off from school. To continue to meet the needs of this growing number, the Christmas Bureau needs help from others in our community. In addition to more than 200 volunteers, the Christmas Bureau relies on monetary donations, toy and gift donations, and family sponsorships. Individuals, businesses, churches, and organizations can find at least one way they can assist and help others in the community. If you can not attend please consider making a monetary donation directly to… HOPE PO Box 79104 Charlotte, NC 28271
