They are like rabbits and horses, so graze all day 4) Be prepared to own them 5-8 yrs. They are not like hamsters that have such a short lifespan 5) Know that daily cage cleaning is a must- one guinea pig poos 6 lbs a month so daily attention helps keep them clean and smelling sweet! Finally, adopt unwanted guinea pigs from previous owners or rescues! Avoid petstore piggies period- mistaken genders, pregnant females, and sick piggies often come from petstore situations.
