We are happy to serve. THE POSITIONUnited Fire is looking for a full-time, professional, dedicated Shop Technician to join our amazing team! This position will be responsible for performing the internal maintenance on fire extinguishers and fire suppression system cylinders.The results of this position are as follows:Extinguisher/cylinder maintenance done according to the code & manufacturer instructionsWork being performed quickly to meet or exceed production goalsProducing an extinguisher or cylinder that looks clean with all appropriate tags/collars/stickersWalk-in customers having their extinguishers serviced immediately so they do not wait longNo leaking cylindersAccurate and precise work orders for parts and services performed THE CANDIDATEOur ideal candidate will have 2 years of previous experience working on portable extinguishers, City of Portland Certificate of Fitness, and be consistently arrive to work on time. At this entry-level position, we can train you how to do the job, but you will be expected to obtain licensing as a condition of employment. This candidate will also have the following attributes, qualities, and beliefs:Working knowledge of NFPA codes and standards.Committed to delivering the highest level of customer service to both external and internal customers.Believe in the value and take action in completing all elements of the job in the safest and most efficient way possible.Exercise strong, active listening skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical situations and their solutions to United Fire customers, as well as team members.Great attention to detail with accuracy in documentation recording.Dedication to continued growth and development, customer service, and the United Fire mission.Able to carry and move tools and equipment up to 50-70 lbsAble to work in a dusty and noisy environment Standing/walking for long periods of time INTERESTED?If you are a values-driven individual that demonstrates professionalism and integrity through their work ethic and this position sounds like a great fit for your professional career goals, we would be excited to hear from you!
