Description

Barbara Hamm Lee and Lisa Godley are excited share the story of the famous Buffalo Soldiers. These men were members of the African American Cavalry Regiments of the U.S. Army who served their country from 1867 to 1896. They were given the nickname ‘Buffalo Soldiers’ by the Native Americans they encountered while serving in the Western part of the United States. Today, modern day Buffalo Soldiers ride on motorcycles, not horseback! They share the legacy of those original members and serve their communities in many ways! (Some examples include: Scholarships, Funeral Services for Fallen Soldiers, volunteering at Soup Kitchens and the list goes on and on!) They will be in Hampton for their national convention July 11th–July 18th. ⭐ Joining Another View for this enlightening discussion will be guests: 👉Dr. Cassandra Newby Alexander – Historian and Dean of the College of Liberal Arts at Norfolk State University 👉Nathan Mack - Buffalo Soldiers National President 👉Ken Thomas – Founder 👉Jerome Smalls – Hampton Roads Chapter President *Anyone interested in being a part of our live on-location audience will need to arrive on the 14th by 11:00 am. We will be on the first floor of the Hampton Roads Convention Center and there will be signs to lead you where to go. We’ll have space for 40 to 50 people.
