This one-hour class focuses on making each stroll you take with your pup even more enjoyable. Proper use of a leash is a form of communication with our pets, letting them know directions and corrections. PetSpace Animal Behavior Specialist and Trainer, Katie McGuire, will be instructing students how to get the most out of each and every walk you take. Mutt Manners: Loose Leash Walking is designed for owners and their pups that are comfortable being around new dogs and new people. This class will be held outdoors in our Barks and Rec yard, class size is limited to 8 dogs. Get a handle on your loose leash skills, register for class today! Please note: If your dog is reactive or becomes overexcited around new dogs and/or new people, we suggest registering for a class designed to target reactivity prior to joinging this session. Tips and tricks before arrival: We recommend not giving your dog treats for a few hours prior to class, and only a light breakfast if necessary - a hungry dog is a motivated learner!Please bring plenty of your dog’s favorite treats, high value treats like hot dogs, cheese, or chicken are always motivating!Class Rules: All dogs must be up to date on their vaccines (DHPP, Rabies, Bordetella). Please bring proof of vaccinations to class. To save time at check-in, please fill out your waiver and email your dog's vaccination records to [email protected] handlers must wear closed toed shoes and long pantsDogs must be wearing a flat collar, cloth Martingale or harness (no choke chains or prong collars)Please bring a six-foot, non-retractable leashAll handlers must be 13 years of age or olderDog handlers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adultThere must also be at least one adult present for every child under the age of 13There is only one handler allowed per dog. If more than one person is attending with a dog, one person will be designated to participate as the handler and additional attendees will observe
