I want to record quality material in an environment where I can display my deep passion and knowledge of music in its purest form. If I’m able to create something halfway decent on a smartphone with no preparation or basic necessary equipment, try to imagine what I could do with a studio setup and carefully crafted songs, as opposed to what I do now which is basically freestyle the entire thing from scratch with no particular direction or idea in mind. If I stumble upon something I like I’ll just throw together a basic song structure around it until I’m somewhat satisfied or bored with where it’s headed. Then I’ll either scrap it or post it to SoundCloud depending on its potential in varying degrees. I have no idea how to properly mix and master which is my has been my biggest problem and I’ve become somewhat bitter about the fact that I waste so much time struggling with the sound quality that sometimes I’ll lose motivation to write creatively and stop a project completely, with precious time for writing itself constantly being second in line which for an artist is at the very least stifling, and disheartening, if not totally discouraging.
