The Berkeley Tennis Club is a 116-year old private tennis club located at the foot of the Claremont Hotel & Spa on Tunnel Road, Berkeley. We are seeking a pool maintenance technician/custodian to help keep our clubhouse, grounds, and pool facilities in impeccable condition for our members. Job Overview: The role of Pool Technician (CPO)/Custodian is a key position at the BTC. The hire will be responsible for the daily maintenance and operations of the club’s swimming pool, ensuring everything remains in optimal working order. Other duties will include general maintenance tasks as prescribed by management to maintain our pristine tennis courts and club facilities. For success in this role, the pool tech/custodian must gain knowledge of club policies and procedures, maintain effective and consistent communication with management, and a good rapport with fellow staff. Staff are in daily contact with members so appropriate interpersonal skills are required. Knowledge and ability to use and maintain equipment, order supplies and anticipate areas of need is vital. Job Description: • Must have an eye for detail – a self-starter who takes great pride in their work and can provide exemplary customer service to our members. • Be the lead technician and maintain all aspects of the club’s commercial swimming pool. • Respond in an appropriate and timely manner to pool and other maintenance requests. • Identify and/or complete miscellaneous light repairs and janitorial projects as directed. • Available to work morning shifts, generally Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., additional hours may be available if full time employment is desired. • Basic computer skills (email and internet). • Attend staff meetings and perform other duties as assigned. Requirements as follows: • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within facilities/pool maintenance. • CPO certification is required – if not already in possession, this hire must be able to pass CPO test within 30 days of employment. • Must be able to work with others in a positive and cooperative manner. • Able to respond quickly to after hours and weekend emergencies, if necessary. • Able to lift 50 pounds from a standing position.
