First Presbyterian Church is looking for a reliable, friendly, helpful person to provide support for church activities by assuring that facilities are set up prior to and taken down after worship. Position reports to the Building Manager. Duties are primarily on Sunday, but there may be other opportunities during the week if interested. Primary Responsibilities, Each Sunday Morning: Prepares Church for Sunday Services and Activities 1) Using the approved Sunday checklist, opens the church building by 0830, and turns on all necessary lighting. Assures that kitchen and office doors are open. 2) All entrances including the north entrance and Narthex are open. 3) After consulting the church calendar, assure that all needed classroom and other facility doors are open, including the fireside room, library, and small kitchen. 4) Unlocks and opens Sanctuary, and makes sure that needed lights are on. 5) Assures that HVAC is working and manually override if needed. 6) Assures that needed audiovisual equipment is available 7) In consultation with the Building Manager and church calendar, assures that fellowship hall is set up with needed tables, chairs, and other equipment. Secures Church After Sunday Services and Activities 1) Following worship service, the Sexton assures that all doors are closed and locked, and that the building is secured. All unnecessary lights are turned off, and HVAC is set for closed hours. In the event that activities are on going e.g., Youth Group or dinner, those rooms may be left open, and necessary climate control left on. 2) In consultation with building manager and the church calendar, the Sexton sets up fellowship hall for any activity that may be scheduled for Monday. 3) Check all doors to insure locked from the outside (crash bar locked, etc). Time Expectations Approximately four hours per week, Sunday mornings (8:30 am to 12:30 pm)
