Sandra Hofmeister – Women in Male-Dominated Industries Join us for an inspiring networking event featuring guest speaker Sandra Hofmeister, Founder & Owner of A&S Construction. Sandra graduated college, and became an accountant, accomplishing essential goals in the private sector in her home country, Peru. Then, she moved to Florida in 2006 and continued to work in accounting. In 2010, she needed a change and moved to Frederick, MD, and started in construction, a male-dominated field that she had never dared to dream about before. She dove in heart-first and never looked back. She saw first-hand the effects of poor-quality workmanship, “cut corners,” and incomplete projects that left homeowners devastated by her predecessors’ work. Some clients had poor experiences with previous contractors, and she wanted to ensure that she would exceed their expectations. Sandra advocated for better materials and experienced labor, implementing a process that improved quality and service. She soon earned a reputation for expecting superior work with a keen eye and passion for her trade. A group of contractors who felt the same approached her and said they would follow her lead anywhere. That is how A&S Construction was born.
