Description

Sunday, July 24 Curator Conversation: Woman’s dress, designed by Jessica McClintock for Gunne Sax, 1970-1973 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Free. Space is limited. RSVP Recommended Join Lisa Shockley, Curator of Collections at the Kansas City Museum for a conversation centered around Jessica McClintock and Gunne Sax, one of the most iconic dresses of the 1970s. Gunne Sax was the original “prairie” dress, and by the late 1970s, every female clothing line had at least one version of the dress. Inspired by sewing with her grandmother, McClintock created an iconic clothing brand that she continued to work with until her death at age 90. Curator Conversation is a free program offered at the Kansas City Museum on the last Sunday afternoon of the month. It is an informal conversation led by curator Lisa Shockley, beginning with historical background information offered about a particular artifact, followed by an invitation for attendees to ask questions or contribute their own personal insights or reflections. For more information, please contact Curator of Collections, Lisa Shockley at [email protected] or 816.702.7704.
