Born and reared in Dalton, Georgia – the “Carpet Capital of the World” – she became interested in journalism in high school while working at a local radio station. She earned her bachelor’s degree, cum laude, in journalism and broadcast news at the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga. Her first professional job after her college graduation took her from Georgia to Nevada, when she became a TV reporter at the NBC station in Las Vegas. She has worked in radio, TV and newspapers in Georgia, Nevada and Florida. Marla joined Florida Realtors® in 2000 – and enjoys close collaboration with her colleagues on the state association’s award-winning Communications Team. She says she can’t imagine a better place to work than Florida Realtors.
