BROCKTON, MA—A man who was shot by police on Monday after fleeing from a domestic violence incident at 33 Overlook Avenue has been identified as 28-year-old Brian Cruz-Soto of Dorchester, according to a press release from the office of District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz. Brockton Police say that they received a 911 call at approximately 2:54 p.m. on Monday to respond to a domestic violence incident. The caller said that a woman was bleeding and fighting and screaming could be heard on the call. Upon police arrival, Crus-Soto fled through the back door of the home. "Preliminary results indicate that two Brockton Police officers encountered the male outside the home in the driveway, reportedly carrying a knife," said the press release. "The officers fired their weapons and the male was struck." Cruz-Soto was treated on scene before being transported to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police. At the time of the incident, Cruz-Soto was wearing a GPS electronic monitoring bracelet in connection with an open case in Suffolk County. Massachusetts State Police Detectives are currently investigating the incident and no further information has been released.
