Description
Hello, I have a rescue named Jax who is a 4 year old male Border Collie mix. He is also Lab and Belgium Sheep dog. He’s playful, smart, potty trained and his shots are up to date. He’s a big goof ball and sometimes gets jealous if he doesn’t get all the attention, which to me is sweet. I’m the second owner of Jax. I rescued him in March 2021 from someone who neglected him, kept him in a cage for 8 hours and when I got him to the vet, he was diagnosed with a UTI. It was so bad, he was peeing blood. So do not crate train him. It will remind him of his trauma. Put him in the room with the door closed if you don’t want to leave him in the backyard and he will behave. Sadly, I have to give him up. It literally breaks my heart doing this, but my current situation isn’t healthy and he needs to be at a home filled with love. I won’t rush this either because I want to find the right person for him that will love him unconditionally. Someone who isn’t going to give him away to another owner, he’s been through enough as it is. So please be confident that he will be with you until the end. He needs room to run in and an active person. If you’re a couch potato, he’s not for you. I’m not saying you have to be active 7 days a week, but at least 5. Border collies are intelligent and need a lot of activity or they will stress out. He needs an owner that can at least take him potty every 7 hours at the max. I usually take him every 5 but some work days lead me to 8 hours. He can’t hold it beyond that. He is not an apartment dog so I would need to know the address to where Jax will be living, and I prefer someone with a house or some land. He’s my world so this is the hardest thing I have to do. My situation right isn’t fair to him so he deserves a better life. He’s not a violent dog. He tends to not give dogs their space because of how excited and curious he is, and he may bark from being excited, but far from violent. I don’t know how well he is with farm animals but I’ve seen him chase cats. So a home without cats is best. He also jumps pretty high sometimes when he’s happy to see you, so if you have children, you’d have to train him to not do that. He learns pretty fast too. He’s not the best on the leash lol. He will pull. Since Jax and I built trust, he likes to stay near without leash during hike walks or trails and doesn’t leave me throughout the whole walk, but if he sees another dog, he will run and greet them. Leash training is definitely needed. However, he loves car rides! Please be aware that he gets very attached. So he might be a little depressed leaving me, so I will leave you something with my scent just so he knows he’s okay. Sometimes he sucks pillows and blankets due to calming his anxiety. He was taken from his mother too soon as a puppy which is why he acts like a puppy sometimes. So if he does that just tell him no and give him his toys.. He also weighs at least 60lbs and needs to be groomed soon (long nails). Let me know if you have any questions and I can answer them as soon as I can. I live in Milwaukie but we will be meeting somewhere public. Yes there will be an adoption fee to ensure he goes to a good home. Thank you for your time. I answer better through email or text!
