TOWSON, MD — After a Towson University basketball player tested positive for the coronavirus, the men's basketball team announced it has "paused all team activities."
The results came from a test on Monday morning, according to a statement from Towson Athletics.
These games have been postponed as a result, officials said:
Towson at Iona on Dec. 29Towson vs. Morgan State on Dec. 30Towson vs JMU on Jan. 3Towson at JMU on Jan. 5Towson at Elon on Jan. 9 and 10 The team is following Baltimore County Health Department policies and participating in contact tracing efforts, officials reported.
Between Aug. 1 and Dec. 23, Towson University has reported 533 positive tests and more than 17,200 negative tests for the coronavirus through its on-campus health center. Of those who tested positive, 476 were students and 57 were faculty/staff.
From Dec. 9 to 23, the university reports it conducted 400 tests, of which six were positive; all were students.
