I just moved into a 2-bedroom apartment on Roosevelt Island. But laying all over are boxes with the 70 or so pictures I took from my old apartment, and now I’ve got to hang them all. One would think that the owner of one of the top picture hanging businesses in the city would be able to have some of his staff do the work, but, unfortunately they are all busy! I look at this as an opportunity to have someone or 2 people learn from me, a veteran of over 50 years of hanging art and mirrors on walls all over the USA. This project will take place during this week and take about 2 days, starting noon each day. My installers get paid between $35 and $70 an hour, depending on their experience and speed. I cannot guarantee a job after just the 2 days here, but it’ll help. You should learn placement of artwork, proper hangers to use, and what to do about steel walls and other problems we sometimes encounter. Also what kind of hangers to use and where to get them. Requirements: Must be handy with hand tools and electric drills and bring them to the apartment. (Hammer, screwdriver, pliers, level, pencils, masking tape.) If you have to buy something for this training session, DON’T BUY NOW…wait. Stipend is $25 per day for travel and lunch.
