Live-in Caregiver PCA & Companion for Paraplegic 42yo Male

Jobs

Description

INTERVIEWING NOW I am an easy going, intelligent, goofy, very musical, overly optimistic and pretty entertaining 42 year old paralyzed male who had suffered a spinal cord injury in 2016, resulting in incomplete paralysis from the chest line down. My most recent caregiver was my upstairs neighbor who had moved out of state and my out-of-town family stepped in to assist while I try to find a suitable live-in replacement. I have had a few interviews, but finding someone who checks most of the boxes has been tough to say the least! If you can't drive, can't cook, don't currently live in a clean environment that you maintain that way, have a CORI record, have unhealthy habits or addictions, can't provide 3 real landlord & employer references, please move onto another ad. The job is paid for by the State-run Tempus Unlimited PCA Program. It is very easy for the right candidate and requires the following: * Being comfortable in the kitchen and open-minded about healthy cooking. I generally try to stick to a protein + veggies or salad diet whenever possible. * OCD's about cleanliness and organization are welcome and encouraged! * Being able to lift 40lbs to load my manual wheelchair into my car. * Good memory recall is very helpful to help keep me & important appointments organized -- I am a bit of a scatterbrain. * Comfortable with driving up to 60 miles for appointments & physical therapy (Boston area Veterans' hospitals). * Willing to learn how to assist me with physical therapy and training at home... this might include helping me stretch, passing weights, strapping me into a sit to stand machine or a functional electrical stimulation (FES) bicycle. Due to the personal nature of the job, a CORI criminal background check will be performed prior to you being offered the job. A big plus if you are willing to share your credit score, as I would very much prefer to work with someone who isn't on the run from collections companies. To apply, let's see if you read the whole ad and pay attention to detail. In the subject line of your email, please name your favorite cuisine or music genre. In the body, please provide a note as to what would make you a good fit for the job. If you have an up to date resume, please attach it as well. I will be scheduling video interviews ASAP. I look forward to meeting you!
