WESTPORT, CT — A 59-year-old Bridgeport man was recently arrested on a warrant by Westport police in connection with multiple residential burglaries and larcenies, according to authorities. Jose Velazquez was arrested at Stamford Superior Court on Dec. 21 and charged with several counts of first- and second-degree burglary; first-, third-, fourth-, fifth- and sixth-degree larceny; and first-degree criminal mischief. The break-ins and thefts occurred in the late spring and early summer, according to police. The specific areas of Westport where the incidents occurred were not disclosed, according to police. "In many of these cases, high-end bicycles were stolen from either open or unsecured garages," Westport police said in a statement. "Through an extensive investigation conducted by the detective bureau that included the execution of search warrants as well as working in cooperation with area departments, a suspect was developed. That suspect was identified as Jose Velazquez." Velazquez was held in lieu of $200,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
