About this eventGathered is Woodlawn Baptist Church's annual worship conference. Our aim this year is to focus on the role of the Word of God in worship. In so doing, we will be talking about expository preaching and how the service as a whole is regulated and shaped by the Word of God. The conference will open with a concert by The Corner Room. Allen is the founder of Preachingcoach.com, a ministry to pastors, preachers, and teachers. He holds the Ph.D. in Humanities from the University of Texas at Arlington. He served as Distinguished Professor of Preaching at Southwestern Seminary for the past 18 years. Dr. Allen was Senior Pastor of two churches for twenty-one years, Interim Pastor of fourteen churches, and is the author of numerous books including his latest book Job in the Christ-Centered Exposition series (2022) and The Atonement: A Biblical, Theological, and Historical Study of the Cross of Christ (2019). LARAMIE MINGA Laramie has served as Pastor for Worship and Discipleship at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, LA for the last eleven years. He studied music at Northwest Mississippi Community College and the University of Mississippi, completing a Bachelor of Arts in Music (Voice) at Leavell College of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS), as well as a Master of Music in Church Music (Conducting) from NOBTS. Additionally, he serves as the director of G3 Biblical Worship Workshops and is currently a PhD candidate (ABD) in Worship and at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Laramie and his wife Angela have one daughter, Addison. ANDREW PRESSLEY Andrew serves as an Associate Pastor at First Baptist Church in Lindale, TX. He also teaches music and worship at East Texas Baptist University. He is a Graduate of the Fine Arts Center of Greenville County (Jazz Guitar) and has a music degree (Classical Guitar) from Anderson University as well as a Master of Divinity in Church Music (Composition) from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Andrew married Meghan in 2016. They have one daughter, Eliza, and one son, Isaac. LEWIS RICHERSON Lewis has served as the Lead Pastor of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, LA, for the last ten years. He previously served at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in various capacities from 2005-2012 where he also received his Master of Divinity with Biblical Languages (M.Div.) and Doctorate of Philosophy in Preaching (Ph.D.) degrees. Lewis believes that the purpose of the local church is "to equip the saints for the work of ministry." This is why he is passionate about expository preaching and discipleship. He is committed to the expositional preaching and teaching of God’s Word. He is married to Erica and together they have five children: Dalton, Carlie, Anna, David, and Ella. ADAM WRIGHT | THE CORNER ROOM Sometimes, we unknowingly stumble upon a life-long pursuit and don't immediately realize its impact. For Adam, that life-long pursuit is setting Scripture to music, a resource to help God's people engage and treasure the Bible more deeply. Adam began this process as music minister for Cahaba Park Church in 2013, writing Psalms to song for a summer sermon series. Almost six years later, he's written and recorded over fifty songs straight from the pages of Scripture (ESV) under the moniker, The Corner Room. As each passage has a different character and intent, each song he writes takes on a different style, drawing from his deep love of acoustic music. A singer/songwriter at heart, Adam enjoys arranging each passage into an accessible and singable work that makes memorization and meditation a joy.
