Description
Do you love wieners? This event will be a 5-minute contest hosted Haynie’s Corner Arts District Association. This is considered an amateur event, no prior food contest experience required—we’re here to have a good time and raise a couple bucks for the corner and our partners! Think you can only eat 3 hot dogs? Cool. We're glad to have you. This isn't the kind of place where we expect to see dozens of dawgs chowed down in quick succession, but if you're in it to win it, we respect that, too. We have had the same champion for THREE years now with a total of 8 hot dogs and honestly, we need someone to beat him! Interested? Here are the details... Registered participants should check in at the HCAD info tent near the fountain the day of the event between 5:30 and 7:30 for waiver signing and other info. In the event of many sign ups, we will run several rounds of hot dog eating. If this occurs, we will randomly assign you a round and communicate your round time with you in advance. Otherwise, you can expect to chow down at 7:30. The rules of the contest allow for a food item to be separated, dunked, and mashed in an effort to consume the most hot dogs. Participants will be given five hot dogs and buns to start. There will be two 32 oz cups of water per participant for dunking or drinking. When the last of the five hot dogs is in process of consumption, five more will be placed before the contestant by an assigned assistant. Should a contestant be observed hiding their hot dogs, dropping them under the table, or placing them on another participant’s plate they will be disqualified. Participants who suffer a reversal of fortune and/or urges contrary to swallowing will be disqualified (and possibly laughed at) - i.e.: vomit, puke, upchuck, etc. Participants must keep the hot dogs down for a period of two minutes after the contest. The “Chipmunking Rule” will be in effect, which means that all food to count must be swallowed 30 seconds after the 5-minute buzzer. Participants who are found to be in violation of the “Chipmunking Rule” will be penalized one hot dog. In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined by a 4-minute hot dog eat-off with the winner being the one who consumes the most. Judges will determine final amounts eaten by. Decision by judges is final! Participants are limited to one “coach” if desired. Coaches are not allowed to handle any food. All participants must sign a participation waiver. Must be 18 years or older. You may not participate if you appear intoxicated. The $5 participation fee will benefit the Haynie’s Corner Arts District Association. The prize is hot dog gear, including a hot dog toaster. This is our best prize yet! The event is free to watch. PLEASE PRE REGISTER!
