Not exactly a “tribute” band, The Waiting is — in the spirit of The Heartbreakers — first and foremost a BAND: a motley mix of musicians and friends interpreting the songs of one of rock’s greatest songwriters and musicians, the legendary Tom Petty. The band’s motto is “We bring the Petty to your town,” and since 2013 they’ve been doing exactly that. Whether it’s one of Tom Petty’s smash hits with the Heartbreakers, a sampling from his solo albums, or even a collaboration with the Traveling Wilburys, The Waiting runs the gamut, performing each tune with undeniable, fiery live energy and a devotion to showing each person in the crowd a damn good time. We think Tom would approve. Aaron Davis & The Mystery Machine From "searing slide guitar" (Country Weekly) echoing gritty Southern blues, to a patchwork of storyfolk and acoustic roots, pensive alt-country, and improvisational 70s-influenced rock, Aaron Davis has been described as a “truly phenomenal songwriter” (Americana UK) with “the lyrical prowess of Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy and edginess of a weathered bluesman” (Jackson Hole Buckrail) and “acombination that goes down like top-shelf bourbon” (Austin Chronicle). Chiefly known as co-founder of national touring actalt-folk/alt-countryband Screen Door Porch, Aaron hasre-focused creative energy toward the ultra-eclectic project Aaron Davis & the Mystery Machine—equally versed inhypnotic groove,three-part vocal harmony, exploratory improvisations, and intricatestory songs. Recognizing his ten-album body of work, Aaron was recently awarded a Music Fellowship from the National Endowment of the Arts, “a merit-based honor for an artist’s work in their field.”
