Join ConsenSIS, a project in partnership with Monument Lab's Re:Generation initiative and the Mellon Foundation, for The Clearing public reading on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Awbury Arboretum. Helmed by Yolanda Wisher, 2016-2017 Poet Laureate, and Trapeta B. Mayson, 2020-2021 Poet Laureate, ConsenSIS strives to create space for black women and femme poets, surveying their work and their lives within the ripe Black literary scene in Philadelphia. From the writings of suffragist Frances Ellen Watkins Harper to the words of Sonia Sanchez, Black women and femmes have been a vibrant part of Philadelphia's poetic legacy. Spend your evening, celebrating, supporting, and listening to the work of Black women and femme poets. Registration starts at 2:30 pm with the event beginning at 3 pm.
