September's book of the month is being heralded as one of the best murder mystery books of 2022. 'The Dirty South" was written by John Connolly. We will be discussing the book and enjoying a drink and snacks inspired by the book. We will be pairing a southern style drink with a snack that was invented in Arkansas (the location of the book) This month's drink will be "Southern Sweet Tea (with a kick!)". This month's snack will be chips, veggies, and cheese dip (who knew that cheese dip came from Little Rock?!)
Additional mixed drinks, wine, beer, and soft drinks will be available for purchase.
About the book:
"It is 1997, and someone is slaughtering young women in Burdon County, Arkansas.
But no one in the Dirty South wants to admit it.
In an Arkansas jail cell sits a former NYPD detective, stricken by grief. He is mourning the death of his wife and child, and searching in vain for their killer. Obsessed with avenging his lost family, his life is about to take a shocking turn.
Witness the dawning of a conscience.
Witness the birth of a hunter.
Witness the becoming of Charlie Parker." (synopsis taken from Simon and Schuster's website)
