HAMDEN, CT — A dog missing for nearly two weeks has been reunited with her family after surviving through the cold temperatures and recent snowstorm, according to police. On Dec. 26, Hamden Animal Control Officer Christopher Smith met with several people, including Joseph Mills, near Tom Swamp Road. Mills and his friends found a female Mexican Hairless/Italian Greyhound in a heavily wooded area. The dog was wearing a leash that was tangled around a tree, according to Capt. Ronald Smith. The sweater that the dog was wearing was frozen, Smith said. Police determined the dog, Gracie, had been missing from the West Woods Road area since Dec. 14, according to Smith. She was taken to Ridgehill Animal Hospital for a medical evaluation. "We are happy to report that other than being a little underweight, the dog is healthy," Smith said. "She has been reunited with her family."
