Description

We have made the very difficult decision to rehome our dog. She is a black chihuahua/dachshund. She will only go to a good loving home after she warms up to you and accepts you. She is loved and so this is not an easy decision. Age: 3 years Weight: Approx 30 lbs. she is overweight Not spayed. Will need updates to vaccinations. Let’s start with the bad… She was not around a lot of people growing up so it takes her a while to warm up to new people. She will bark and bark at strangers. At separate times 2 of my friends got in her face, so she growled. They proceeded to try to pet her and she nipped at them, she was cornered and scared and trying to protect herself. Otherwise she is too scared to approach people and just barks. She has never attacked anyone. She is also not around other dogs except her siblings. She barks at other dogs so going for walks can be hard. She sometimes plays with her sibling dogs but she is too ADHD to have much interest in anything else but food. So if she finds food, including trash, she will eat it. You have to be careful what you leave out and keep your trash covered. Now the good… She is very food motivated so I know she will be easy to train. She LOVES treats. She knows the word treat. She knows sit and turn. She will stand for treats. If she’s not hungry she likes to lay with her family. She is kennel trained and loves to lay in her bed or lay with her family. She will walk to the door when she needs to go potty. She knows the word potty. We have 2 cats and she pretty much ignores them. If you leave the door open she will walk out but she’s not one to run or escape, but if you don’t catch her she will walk off. You can call her and offer her a treat and she will come back. Once she’s around people and especially if they give her treats she will warm up to them and recognize them when they return. She does good with our older kids. I don’t know how she would do with little kids. If they left her alone she would ignore them. She really is a sweet dog. She loves her pets and scratches. She will make someone a great companion. You won’t feel lonely with her around. If you’ve made it this far, then know I am asking for a $125 rehoming fee. She will come with a bed, kennel, some dog food, and treats. if it does not work out with her we will take her back. We want to make sure this is a good fit.
