Description

6 week old pair of male & female button quail. We have one too many males in our flock and need to rehome this bonded pair. They hatched together and have been housed together always. Rehoming them with the homemade brooder, food & water dishes and one week's worth of food. Things to know about Button Quail: They are miniature- adults grow only 4-5 inches tall. Babies are tiny- hence the origin of the phrase, "Cute as a Button." They are generally egg machines once mature- laying 1-2 tiny eggs a day. They are nervous, flighty birds & do not like to be held. They are quirky and hilarious. They are incredibly fun to watch and keep as pets- but think of them like furry fish- just to look at, not to touch. They jump when they are nervous, so must be housed in an aquarium or cage with a soft or screened ceiling. They can not be housed with chickens or other quail. They can live outside in warmer months but need heat or inside lodging for winter. A pair of button quail is content in a large aquarium with a screened lid & pine shavings on bottom.
