Therapeutic Aggression Control Techniques is a trauma-informed and competency-based training program containing both verbal and physical components. TACT2 helps staff develop the skills and judgment to: (1) Distinguish between true emotional crisis and functional, deliberate misbehavior. (2) Better understand the impact of ACEs and trauma on children's behavior. (3) Skillfully de-escalate emotional issues with calming and listening skills. (4) Effectively manage deliberate misbehavior with limit-setting and fair consequences. (5) Avoid power struggles and anger traps. (6) Safely control dangerous situations with minimal risk to staff and youth (requires optional physical training). TRAINER RECERTIFICATION. This one-day training with author Dr. Steve Parese will orient you to this year's annually updated TACT2 Recertification materials, and refresh your physical intervention skills. The first half is dedicated to refreshing your verbal skills. Passing a 20-item multiple-choice test of knowledge and judgment (80%) is required. You will leave with master copies of the 2022 booklet, PowerPoint, and test, which you will use to recertify your own staff. The second half will update and refresh your physical skills, including self-protection skills, standing holds, escorts, and restraints. An individual assessment MAY be required in some cases. Verbal trainer recertification requires 3 hours; Full verbal + physical trainer certification requires 5-6 hours. Cost includes a master copy of the 2022 materials, TACT2 t-shirt, & gift.
