The Diversity Student Leadership Conference is a half day event featuring interactive workshops and knowledgeable speakers addressing diversity initiatives and practices. Conference participants will have a chance to network and discuss what is happening in their school environments in a setting that focuses on best practices. The Diversity Student Leadership Conference will provide participants with an opportunity to share ideas, strategies, and programs centered on social justice and cultural competency that promote, encourage and create inclusive experiences for their communities. The goal of the Student Diversity Leadership Conference is to provide high school students with an opportunity in which they can walk away with tools to help them grow as advocates for change around equity and inclusion in their school environments. This experience will specifically focus on cultural competency and biases that impact their communities. Learning OutcomesStudent Diversity Leadership Conference will provide high school students with an opportunity to explore, develop and share ideas, strategies, and programs centered on equity and inclusion so that they can garner “tools” that encourage and create inclusive experiences for their communities. Through this conference students will develop a deeper capacity to: • Foster and guide brave space conversations that address how they can engage in action focused practices that address and move forward inclusive environments that foster the progression of equitable and inclusive learning. • Provide tools that can create equitable and inclusive lens to help analyze and foster current practices, and programs to create more inclusive programs, services, outcomes, and an strong learning culture. • Discussion on how to address, educate values and biases and to take effective action within their specific school environments that address fostering and creating inclusive environments.
