Manchester Man Arrested On Felony Threat Charges In Salem

SALEM, NH — A Queen City man is facing charges in Salem accused of threatening another person with a gun and baseball bat on Monday and then trying to evade police by hiding the handgun. Police were sent to North Broadway around 9 a.m. to take a criminal threatening report. A victim, according to Chief Joel Dolan of the Salem Police Department, accused Ryan Brochu, 33, of Manchester of making threats with a handgun and a baseball bat. "The suspect fled the scene prior to the arrival of the responding officers," Dolan said. "No one was injured." About 90 minutes later, police arrested Brochu on Mall Road. They determined, during an investigation, that the handgun used in the incident was discarded in the area of Gigante Road in Hampstead, Dolan said. Salem police, along with officers in Hampstead, searched the area with K-9 Apollo and his handler, Salem Officer Dan Nelson, and found the gun. "K-9 Apollo began his patrol work with the Salem Police Department last week after successfully completing the Boston Police K-9 Academy and is Officer Nelson's second K-9 partner," Dolan said. "His first, K-9 Trigger, retired earlier this year." Brochu was charged with two counts of criminal threatening with a deadly weapon and a single count of falsifying physical evidence, all felonies. He was released on personal recognizance bail and will be in Rockingham County Superior Court at a later date.
