In the Iranian ghost-town Bad City, a place that reeks of death and loneliness, the townspeople are unaware they are being stalked by a lonesome vampire. Ana Lily Amirpour's debut feature is influenced by spaghetti westerns, graphic novels, horror films, and the Iranian New Wave. LADIES NIGHT is a monthly series hosted by Stray Cat programmer Danielle Krakenberg. These films are intentionally picked with a focus on the struggle, rise and triumph of empowered (and sometimes crazy) women. At Ladies Night we will view and analyze the complex dynamics, common tropes and stereotypes of women in genre films and how they’re depicted on the big screen.
