Join us at Studio By The Tracks with artist Aaron Sanders Head for a beautiful morning getting to know indigo! Participants will learn how to dye natural fiber goods in indigo vats and a few basic resist and shibori techniques with a concentration on tied and clamped resist. A half yard of cotton muslin fabric will be provided per student for experimentation, but participants should feel highly encouraged to bring their own goods to dye. Goods from home should be made from natural fibers, and cellulose (cotton, linen, rayon) accepts color best. Pre-wash all fabric in hot water before the workshop. Participants should wear old clothing that can be stained, including shoes. Aprons are provided, but feel free to bring your own. This workshop is appropriate for ages 15 and older. This workshop has a limited capacity. If for any reason you cannot attend after registering, please contact [email protected] as soon as possible so that we can offer your seat to someone on our waitlist. If the workshop is full, it will not allow you to register, but you can email [email protected] to get on the wait list. This is a free event that is possible with support from the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. You are not expected to pay to attend, although we graciously accept donations to our Studio which helps sustain our programming at Studio By The Tracks. Thank you!
