TITLE: Animal Tech/ Reptile Caretaker Pay Range: Starting $15.00 per hour part time, can turn into full time for the right person. Schedule: Monday – Friday, Some weekends Hours: 7:00 AM -3:00 PM BASIC FUNCTION: This position will be responsible for the daily Cleaning, feeding and care of Non Venomous reptiles specifically Ball Pythons as well as rodents. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: • Responsible for feeding and watering the animal colonies and cleaning/disinfecting their enclosures, equipment and surrounding work areas. • Maintains daily work logs, reports and other records. • Record and provide feedback on animal health and welfare to manager. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physically demanding physical labor, requires endurance in repetitive tasks, operating at a fast pace for extended periods of time, standing on feet for 8 hours a day. Some heavy lifting is required, must be able to carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be mobile and active throughout the day. WORKING CONDITIONS: Indoor warehouse climate simulates a tropical weather condition; work is performed in hot and humid environments in order to simulate the animals natural environment. SKILLS NEEDED: • Must be able to recognize and understand animal behavior. • Must be able to handle Small Pythons, Lizards and Rodents. • Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions including strict policy and procedures for the care and maintenance of animals, equipment and facility. • Must be able to follow bio security rules and procedures to prevent the introduction of pathogens into the colony. • Must be able to handle the stress associated with high risk situations of feeding animals and cleaning their enclosures. • Must be able to exercise patience, consideration and empathy toward animals while carrying out duties. • Must be able to observation, recognize and evaluate conditions of animal health, diet and behavior and communicate this information to management. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: • Must have valid driver’s license. • Ability to work some weekends and holidays, • Ability to make it to work during all climatic conditions. • Must be able to pass a rigid background check including work history, criminal records and other records deemed necessary.
