SAN RAFAEL, CA — Patch reader and San Rafael resident Vernon Smith captured this photo Dec. 19 of the "great conjunction" of Jupiter and Saturn.
"Jupiter is the lower bright one and Saturn is the upper bright one," he said. "Saturn appears elongated because of the rings. Two of Jupiter's moons can be seen faintly at the left."
