OPEN CASTING CALL!!!
Women of Loss and Might, a Lyrical Monologue Play written by Soheila Ghaussy ***
We are looking for at least twenty-three actors or inspired non-actors. Auditions are open to people older than 18, of any ethnicity, race, or nationality; and of any marginalized gender identity, including women, non-binary and trans folks, who are resilient and comfortable with playing and embodying the plight of people who have experienced trauma and war. Some parts require dancing, some require singing.
This 12-Act monologue play is based on a series of prose poems (in the form of “voices”) that map the losses and sufferings, and the joys and longings of Afghanistan’s girls, women, and bacha poshes (a gender identity unique to Afghanistan.) The performance will take place on several nights in mid October, 2022, in an outdoor space in Baltimore (details and performance times tba) ***
Auditions will take place outdoors at Lake Montebello Pavilion (between playground and school) on June 30, 2022 from 5-8pm July 1, 2022 from 5-8pm July 2, from 1-4pm ***
If you are interested in a time slot or to learn more, please reply to this post by June 30, 2022
Please write “Women of Loss and Might Audition” in the subject line with your name, contact info, and which date and time frame works best for you. We will contact you back and send you a selection of monologues from the play for your audition (which you don’t have to memorize.) ***There is currently no pay for these roles. However, it is on our high priorities list, and we have begun fundraising, to be able to pay artists at least some gas $$, if not more than that.
Please pass this on to those you think would want to audition or learn more!
