The Backseat Drivers are a merry band of noisemakers put together one year ago for the purpose of playing a single show, a show which happened to be in the middle of a large cornfield. After the show they immediately disbanded with members returning to their regular gigs. The original lineup was big: bass, drums, 3.5 guitarists, 2 keyboard players, 3 horns (trumpet, alto and baritone saxophones) and a large rotation of vocalists., Fast forward to the spring of 2022 and many of the core members have returned to revive the group and renew the rock! We play a crazy list of covers, sometimes going a bit deeper into the artists' catalogs. This include tunes from the likes of the Beatles, Jackson 5, Police, Talking Heads, Rustic Overtones, Elvis Costello, Beastie Boys, Peter Gabriel, Tom Petty, Radiohead, Cake, ELO, Modern English. George Harrison, Weezer,, Dinosaur Jr., B-52's, David Bowie, and the list goes on. We're hoping to inject a bit more funk, soul, and jazz into the mix once we find some steady keyboard/horn players. And here is where you come in (hopefully!) We currently consist of drums, bass, 2-3 guitar players, and the original horn players who play with us on an "every now and then" basis. We're looking for a keyboard and/or synth player and a few good horns to add to the core of our group. The Backseat Drivers' three part goal consists of: 1. Having Fun 2. Sounding Awesome 3. Gigging/Making a little money We practice weekly in Rochester NH. We also have the use of a decent keyboard for any players who don't want to lug theirs back and forth (a Williams Legato III).
