Description

Hi, I'm Jason (Known to be social with small dogs). I am set to be euthanized June 26th, 8 am. Why am I E-listed? I’m REALLY STRESSED due to long periods of confinement and limited opportunities for out-of-kennel time. It is no wonder that I am overly excited and grabbing at the kennel fencing and the divider when staff is closing me in! I just want OUT!! Can you blame me? It is inhumane to keep me here in this condition! And now the shelter wants to put me to sleep! Will you help save my life? I’m a handsome 5-year-old, neutered, white and brown American Pit Bull Terrier (80 lbs.). I was homeless when someone found me and brought me to the shelter. The finder said I was friendly with people, did well with small dogs, and walked well on a leash. Sadly, I've been here since March 8th. That is a LONG time for a big dog to live in a small concrete box (kennel), surrounded by chaos! Volunteers say I love to be petted and enjoy splashing in a kiddie pool and rolling in the grass. I take treats gently. I am desperate to be out and with people and can get overly excited and jumpy. I do take correction! I have been easy to leash and return to my kennel. Once I’ve had a chance to get some energy out and away from the shelter, I walk well on-leash. I haven’t had a dog-to-dog assessment with dogs my size, so if you have dog(s) in your home, you will need to give me time to de-stress and then do SLOW introductions. It is recommended that I have an adopter that understands a stressed dog like me, that I meet the entire family before going home, that children be 12+, and that I have training to “fine tune” my leash skills. I will need a predictable routine, a lot of time to decompress and relax, and time for exercise and play. I’m a GOOD dog in a not good situation. I deserve to live! Can you save my life? Please come and meet me before it is too late, and they put me down! Love, Jason Call with any questions. My ID is #A4703753. I’m located at the EAST Shelter: 2630 W Rio Salado Pkwy Mesa, AZ 85201 Open 12-5 7 days a week.
