Semi autos have been around since the model T. 100 + years and yes for civilian use. Yes I own a semi auto from the 1920s. You still can purchase a Tommy gun with clips or barrel cartridges the difference is that it is not a FULLY AUTO (pull trigger and hold keeps firing till empty). YOU MUST HAVE- MUST HAVE A SPECIAL LICENSE TO OWN A FULLY AUTOMATIC GUN. [ANY] FULLY AUTOMATIC GUN Who's going to hold my (assault rifle) as you put it ????? Can I go down and get it on a Sunday afternoon???? What about hunting with it ?? YES we do hunt with them !! If I go down to Texas to boar Hunt what would be my means of getting my gun to do that ???
