JOLIET, IL — A 23-year-old Plainfield man is no longer in custody in connection with felony domestic violence charges filed against him by Joliet police. On Monday morning, Joliet officer arrested Gustavo Zamora the third after police say he shoved his teenage girlfriend into a wall, headbutted her and then put his hands around her neck, choking her, nearly leaving her unconscious. Zamora was booked into the Will County Jail on charges of domestic battery and aggravated domestic battery. At the house, police learned that the 19-year-old girlfriend of Zamora was beaten up by him, reports show. "Further investigation determined that the couple began to argue at which time Zamora pushed the victim into a wall. The victim was then headbutted by Zamora which caused her to fall to the ground," Joliet police announced. "While on top of the victim, Zamora choked her to the point of nearly losing consciousness," police announced. "The victim was able to free herself at which time she locked herself in the bathroom and called 911. Officers arrived and placed Zamora into custody without incident."
