Mt Baker Products is a premier manufacturer of decorative plywood used for cabinetry, furniture and interiors throughout North America. Our company uses veneers like cherry, walnut and oak to produce high end panels for the woodworking industry. We have an immediate opening for a Plugger Operator in day shift (5:30 am to 2:00 pm, Mon-Fri; overtime may be required). Job Summary: Operates machine that routs out defects such as knots, dents, and holes, in veneers, and inserts plugs in cutout areas by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed by employer. Inserts wood slats into machine for plug material. Grasps board and inspects board for defects such as knots, dents, and blemishes. Starts machine, and inserts defect in board under device holding router and plug cutter. Depresses pedal, causing router to bore hole, and plug cutter to cut plug. Plugs veneer to proper grades and put in proper carts Records inches on a report that is to be turned in daily Adheres strictly to all safety rules & policies. Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age. Entry-level position; we will train. Must be able to learn to identify grades of wood and detect imperfections. Must be willing to do other production duties, as assigned. Must be available and willing to work overtime, including on Saturdays. Physical Requirements and Work Environment: Must be able to stand for long periods of time. The employee must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; twist, bend, reach with hands and arms, and use a foot pedal to operate the machine. The work environment contains dust particles and heavy machinery; noise level is moderate to loud; PPE is required. Temperature varies according to season.
