Bilka Design is hiring experienced painters for our exterior renovation company. This is a 1099 position so we will not be taking taxes out of your pay. Compensation depends on experience ($15-$25 per hour). If you have all your own tools and are completely self-sufficient then we can talk about sub-contracting work to you (piece work). Reliable & legal transportation is an absolute MUST! WE work throughout Duval and Saint Johns Counties so getting to jobsites on time is your responsibility. We can train you about processes or products you might not be familiar with but a solid work ethic with the desire to learn & grow is another MUST! Check out our website for more information: bilkadesign.com Responsibilities include: 1. Smooth & prepare surfaces for painting including sanding & removing bubbled, or peeling paint. 2. Fill nail holes, cracks, & joints with putty, caulk, or other filler. 3. Remove & replace, or mask off various hardware, lights, gutters, fixtures, etc. to prepare for paint. 4. Tape, float, & mask walls & ceilings, and cover floors, furniture, cars, etc. 5. Properly identify paints, primers, stain blockers, and other products for every application. 6. Paint surfaces with sprayers, rollers, brushes, and apply paint using shields. 7. Erect scaffolding or set up ladder to perform tasks above ground. 8. Clean exterior windows to remove overspray, dust, etc. 9. Pick up & deliver paint supplies from retailers to jobsites & maintain records / receipts. 10. Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment by following established inspection procedures. 11. Receive & complete work orders while maintaining accurate records on material & labor used. 12. Maintain inventory of tools and assist with inventory control of materials & equipment. 13. Clean up all debris, trash, materials & supplies and bag up small or lightweight items. 14. Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean. 15. Work with Supervisor & team to complete tasks & projects. SAFETY 17. Operate tools & equipment according to established safety procedures. 18. Perform preventative maintenance on tools & equipment to ensure that equipment in safe operating condition. 19. Follow established safety procedures & techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc. 20. Store, handle, and dispose of paint, stain, varnish, and other chemicals according to established procedures. 21. Correct any and ALL unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to Supervisor immediately. 22. Other duties could include working in other areas of trades to provide support during absences, or shortages of staff to ensure success of entire operation. 23. Requires flexibility & understanding that all staff may be required to perform duties outside their normal area of expertise to meet the mission and goals of Bilka Design. 24. Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Frequent walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting and carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Ability to operate hand and power tools and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Work outside and inside; on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, ladders, and scaffolding; and around machinery with moving parts. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, excessive noises, fumes, and toxic chemicals. Frequent travel throughout Jacksonville & surrounding areas.
