This quickly led to McLaughlin becoming the first artist to sign on with Orangehaus Records (now Orangehaus Entertainment). His self-titled album released in 2004 led to local and regional praise. and he began touring throughout the Midwest building a grassroots following. In 2005, McLaughlin recorded an 8-song EP entitled "Songs I Wrote and Later Recorded". Touring expanded across the country as support continued to grow for the independent artist; he caught the attention of other independent artists and began touring with artists such as Dave Barnes and Matt Wertz. In 2005, he signed with Island Records. Since then, McLaughlin has been involved with musical venues and festivals such as Feeling Better Than Everfine (Cleveland, OH), Waterfest (Oshkosh, WI), Milwaukee Summerfest (Milwaukee, WI) and Lollapalooza (Chicago, IL). He has toured with Kelly Clarkson, O.A.R., Sister Hazel, Cowboy Mouth, Paolo Nutini, and Marc Broussard. McLaughlin opened on Kelly Clarkson's My December Tour beginning in October 2007. He has also toured with popular singer-songwriter, Sara Bareilles. He recorded a trio with Jason Mraz and Van Hunt for the Randy Jackson duets-album Randy Jackson's Music Club, Vol. 1. The track title is "Something to Believe In". McLaughlin's "Human" is featured in promotions for the CBS series 'Flashpoint'. In 2007, McLaughlin was featured in the film 'Enchanted' starring Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey singing "So Close", which he then performed at the 2008 Academy Awards; the song was used in Disney California Adventure's World of Color show in 2010. In June 2008, McLaughlin released "Beating My Heart" which reached mainstream radio followed by Hot Adult Contemporary charts (Hot AC) & received praise from Billboard editor Chuck Taylor, who wrote that "It's high time for singer/songwriter Jon McLaughlin to earn his due." McLaughlin co-wrote "Every Time You Lie" and "Falling Over Me" with Demi Lovato for her album 'Here We Go Again' in 2009, the latter featuring McLaughlin's backing vocals. SPECIAL GUEST | KRIS ALLEN Kris Allen is an American musician, singer and songwriter from Conway, Arkansas, and the winner of the eighth season of American Idol. Prior to Idol, he self-released a 2007 album, Brand New Shoes.[2][3] Allen's Idol coronation song, "No Boundaries" and his version of "Heartless" both charted within the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100. Allen's post-Idol self-titled album was released on November 17, 2009, by Jive Records. The album debuted at number 11 on the U.S. Billboard 200. The album's lead single, "Live Like We're Dying", was released on September 21, 2009, and peaked at number 18 in the U.S. with combined sales of over 1.7 million. Allen's second major-label album Thank You Camellia was released on May 22, 2012, and the lead single "The Vision of Love" was released March 26, 2012. Allen released his fifth studio album, Letting You In, on March 18, 2016.
