Work at the Number 1 Sons pickle stand We make pickled and fermented food and drink in Ivy City in NE DC. We exclusively sell to our neighbors at area farmers markets. (We were in grocery stores years ago and made an intentional decision to focus on "community-centered commerce") It's a lot of work to make our pickle stands happen on weekend mornings. We make pickles, kimchi and kombucha all week, and on weekends we load the pickle vans and deliver our products to our market locations where the marketeers set up and operate the stands. We hand-pack pickles to order. In addition to having fast hands our marketeers also specialize in pickle puns or salty (yet endearing) banter. Former "pickle people" have said that working with Number 1 Sons: "opened DC up for me as a new resident" "I met my husband working for Number 1 Sons!" "I felt like I connected with my community in a whole new way" "made me happy" Youvalue community and people, are self reliant, appreciate local food systems, and are a mix of fun and slightly offbeat. Sounds like a pickle person! We offer hourly pay plus a generous credit for our products, which you can trade or take home. Most folks end up eating "the best they've ever eaten" by trading with their neighboring farm/producer stands. It really is a local & seasonal feast. We're looking for the following. Pickle Van Driver - - min 2 weekend/mo commitment, either Sat or Sun, but can work more if preferred - early start, 5a-6a, depending on the route - option to take a long break or work at market in between drop off and pickups - after pickups help to reset for next day = long day! - strong and quick (we load our vans before heading to market) - able to drive a cargo van / 15' box truck Marketeer - - commit to a "home farmers market" for the 2022 market season (through 3rd week of Nov) - setup stand - work market by talking to customers, packing pickles and ringing up customers - taking the stand down Ride-Along - This is a marketeer who comes to the pickle facory (in Ivy City) early in the AM - 1/hr more over your marketeer rate - works with driver to load pickle van & deliver markets - then works their market - After market rides with driver to pickup other pickle stands on the route and comes back to the pickel factory to help with unload and reset Look forward to hearing form you!
