Wanted: Hobby or Bench Jeweler

Jobs

Orlando FL

Description

I have several half finished jewelry projects, mostly gold, some silver and gold, one platinum, etc. that I want to get finished. Not all at once, but I need to make progress. I am a long term, 3rd generation gem collector. I had a bad bout of Covid and developed a tremor that hasn’t gone away. I enjoyed hobby jewelry fabrication as it relates to my main hobby. My skill level can be described as “I can make a custom engagement ring…just give me a couple of months.” I think that says it all. If I were to triage my projects, I’d settle for someone who just knows how to solder but the more skills you have the better. I have a Stuller account so I could order a lot of items pre-made (basket settings, bezels, etc) to save time. I have never done casting but I’m not against it. If you can make custom basket settings, that would be awesome. As I said, I’m mostly a gemmy, so my stones aren’t often calibrated. I would love it if you can set the stones, that can be quite hard for me, especially the melee. If you don’t feel comfortable setting a pricey center gemstone, that’s fine. And obviously, if you’re a bench jeweler, you can do all of this. That would be ideal. I’ll be in Orlando from out of town for a month. Now through the end of July. During the pandemic, most of the jewelers I know had to shut their doors, even sell their tools. Although I have a lot of projects, I’d be happy to get just one finished. Open to all quotes, either by job task or hourly. If you need a special or rare gemstone, I’d be open to a trade. I have everything. I don’t sell out of my personal collection but could make an exception. Any old USSR material will have to be pried out of my cold dead hands. But I prefer to just pay you however much it costs. Somehow in the last two years everyone decided to use CAD to do custom work. I don’t understand the purpose of CAD and ironically have trouble visualizing the end result. I’m not stupid. I know things cost money. I’m not here to waste anyone’s time. Thanks for reading my post! Feel free to shoot me an email on your set up and what you can offer!
