WORCESTER, MA — A Worcester man accused of carrying Molotov cocktails during a 2020 protest was sentenced in federal court Thursday to three years of supervised release, according to prosecutors. Vincent Eovacious, 20, was arrested during a June 1, 2020, protest in Worcester that formed after a larger demonstration ended. A Worcester police officer coaxed Eovacious down from a rooftop along Main Street during the incident after he was seen holding a bottle full of liquid. He was later arrested and charged in federal court with civil disorder and the unlawful possession of an unregistered firearm. Eovacious pleaded guilty in September to those charges. He is the only person out of 19 arrested during the June 1 incident to face criminal punishment. The Worcester Country District Attorney's Office in March 2021 dropped charges against 17 other people involved in the protest due to a lack of evidence. Police arrested two other men after a break-in at the Park Avenue Eb Lens store during the protest, but a DA spokesperson said that incident wasn't necessarily related to the Main South demonstration. On top of serving the supervised release sentence, Eovacious was sentenced to time served for the three days he spent in federal lockup after his arrest. Federal prosecutors had asked a judge to send Eovacious to prison for 13 months. RELATED: Year After Worcester Protest, Only One Man Faces Criminal Charges
