The elevator operator is responsible for providing exceptional customer service; assisting with receiving, storing, and shipping of grain; cleaning trucks; and maintenance of elevator as qualified, operating scale, and assisting with other operations and maintenance duties as needed. Additional responsibilities include promoting company and branch location employee cohesiveness through effective communication, teamwork, shared services, and by following safety policies and procedures. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. (Other duties may be assigned.) Greets customers in positive and courteous manner and provides excellent customer service Serves customers by responding to customer inquiries, questions, and/or complaints in a prompt, respectful, and professional manner Assists in solving problems for customers promptly Unloads and/or loads trucks Inspects grain for insects, moisture, and foreign material while unloading grain trucks Reads thermometers to ascertain grain temperatures at various levels in storage tanks in a timely manner Starts conveyors, selects flow pipes, sets trippers, and selects storage tanks to convey grain into storage or to loading department Performs routine maintenance and repair on all elevator equipment Fills anhydrous ammonia tanks as needed Continually maintains facility cleanliness to ensure safety and required standards are met Ability to work a variable schedule during harvest including: days of the week, shifts and hours per week (including overtime as needed) Completes all paperwork accurately, timely and in accordance with requirements Effectively communicates by verbal and written means with customers, employees and management Maintains and promotes safety awareness and follows safety policies, procedures and reporting requirements Must comply with all state and federal laws, codes and regulations Presents a clean and professional appearance Responsible for prompt and regular attendance Employee is required to perform all other duties as assigned
