Join Ohio's first LGBTQ+ legislator and the world's first openly gay royal for a discussion focused on India’s progress in fighting for LGBTQ+ rights, as well as policies that could make Ohio a safer, more inclusive place to live.
Since coming out publicly in 2006, Prince Manvendra Sihngh Gohil has used his personal experience to fight against conversion therapy and other forms of discrimination while advocating for the advancement of rights for the LGBTQ+ community. This event will bring together advocates, local leaders and community members to hear from the Prince and his husband, Cecil "DeAndre" Richardson, as they celebrate their 9th wedding anniversary by continuing to advocate for equality. The discussion will focus on legislation, current events and the intersection of issues that vulnerable populations face in Ohio and around the world.
Senator Nickie J. Antonio has made a number of historical firsts in the Ohio General Assembly. In 2010, she became the first member of the LGBTQ community ever elected to the Ohio House of Representatives and was elected Minority Whip in the 131st General Assembly. In 2018, she became the first woman ever to hold the Senate District 23 seat and the first member of the LGBTQ community ever elected to the Ohio Senate, she was elected Senate Minority Whip, and now serves as Assistant Minority Leader since 2021. She has been a dedicated champion of workers’ rights, high-quality education, local governments, the environment, equal rights for women and the LGBTQ community, health care for all and fighting the opioid crisis.
