Using a nationally accredited curriculum, Good Shepherd Defense and Training uses civilian, law enforcement, and military principles to bring together a course that can be applied in the most dire of circumstances! Why take our courses? Our course focuses more than “just what you need to know” to get by, or the absolute “minimum”. We drive home the sincerity and importance of the subject matter. Using real world experience from civilian, law enforcement, and military skillsets we push to increase confidence and skill, no matter the subject. Mission Statement Our passion, is to instruct people to become confident with their firearm; while responsibly training them to arm themselves and be ‘on watch’ within their community. Our philosophy is simple, the more firearms in the hands of properly trained Shepherds, the better. Joshua Jeffries our Medical Instructor: Joshua R. Jeffries is a Paramedic, Firefighter, Police Officer and Pre hospital Emergency Medical Educator. He has over 20 years of emergency experience. Joshua began volunteering at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, where he was hired to the surgery department, transitioned to Emergency, and is currently teaching at the medical center. He currently volunteers at the Morton Fire Department as a paramedic and firefighter. He also works as a police officer for the Washington police department, and is a Deputy for Woodford County Sheriff Department. He also does tactical Medicine Support for 3 area SWAT Teams. He has been awarded the Homeland Security Award for Merit by the United States Coast Guard. Joshua is an Eagle Scout. He also enjoys diving and powerlifting, and was awarded third place in his weight class at the 2015 WUAP World Championship. FAQs Who should take this class? Anyone can, and everyone should! This is designed for anyone to increase the skills needed to keep yourself or a loved one alive. Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? There is no age requirement for the course. What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? We are located at the TacShack in North Peoria. Please utilize the North Parking Lot and use the entrance located by the flag pole! What can I bring into the event? We provide all that is required for the class (student materials, course materials, food, refreshments, etc.) You should bring the items that will be emailed to you in the course instructions after your reservations have been made. What's the refund policy? We do not offer refunds, but we do allow rollovers. Meaning if there is a need to not attend the course, you may roll your slot over to the next available one. Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable? Yes. You may transfer the ticket to whomever you may wish. This is the easiest way to "gift" a class to someone.
