Description
We are a rescue network providing free services to those who currently own a pure breed Shiba Inu dog but are no longer interested in or able to continue to care for their dog. We provide the Shiba Inu with a temporary home through a network of trusted animal foster parents who agree to host the Shiba Inu in their home and help with rehabilitation (ranging from health or behavior problems) until the Shiba Inu is adopted. Please understand that foster homes for Shiba Inus are few and far between so you may be asked to hold your Shiba Inu until an opening can be found. We specialize in purebred Shiba Inu rescue and are unable to accept Shiba Inu mixes due to volume and capacity. If you currently own a pure breed Shiba Inu and would like to, please contact us. We are devoted to helping Shiba Inus primarily on the Pacific Northwest region. We ask that you provide a minimum of three (3) pictures of your Shiba Inu, including a front and side view. Also include your first name and email address in your message to us. Upon review of your submission, we will do one of the three things: 1. Encourage and provide you with resources to help keep your dog. We provide resources from Shiba Inu owners with decades of experience utilizing force-free and time-tested training materials and sessions that help you manage a difficult situation or circumstance with your Shiba Inu until you are able or ready to connect with a local qualified professional for more long term solutions. We are also able to help connect you with veterinary references for specific medical issues (such as if your Shiba Inu has heart health issues or environmental allergies). 2. We help provide trusted resources on how to list the sale of your Shiba Inu, on your own. There are unscrupulous people out there who take advantage of unwanted Shiba Inus and sell them on a third-party market with little to no regard for your Shiba Inu's experience or health during that process. We guide you on how to conduct your own review of potential new owners of your Shiba Inu (including how to conduct a home check with the new owner, reference checks, interviews, and training contacts). We walk through the pros and cons of each approach and tailor it towards your unique situation or circumstance, as well as timeline. 3. We arrange for you to surrender your Shiba Inu. We advise you on the advantages and disadvantages in these difficult circumstances. We take care of the heavy lifting in terms of transportation logistics, assessments (behavior and medical) and work with your Shiba Inu until he or she is ready for adoption. Since we are not a shelter, in certain circumstanes, you may have to hold on to your Shiba Inu for a few weeks while your Shiba Inu's new home is being arranged. All Shiba Inu rescues through our network live in caring homes with families who have their Shiba Inus as family members.
