This event is geared towards the community in the Hellyer Park area. It is also open to all residents living in Santa Clara County that would like to learn more about mental illness to wellness. Especially minorities. Who's a minority? In a sense we all are in certain situations. The focus of this event is not just on racial and ethnic minorities, but those that struggle with disparities because they may have a disability, identify as LGBTQ, served in the military, is a youth that has difficulties with everyday stressors and pressures to succeed. As the Guest Speaker Cindy Chavez will kick off the event and share her experiences with mental health as she has at hundreds of events over the years, throughout Santa Clara County. In addition to learning about the creation of Minority Mental Health month and understanding minority mental health disparities, guests will have opportunities to visit booths that will provide mental health resources. The event will also feature booths that focus on wellness; some may surprise you! A few of the speakers will share their mental illness to mental wellness story through lived experience and we hope the performers will excite and motivate you to get involved in some of the fun planned for the day.
You couldn't ask for a better opportunity to learn more about mental health than by attending this Minority Mental Health Awareness, Celebration & Resource Fair at Hellyer Park!
